A Euro 2012 wallchart with a difference

Back in 2010, during the Football World Cup, I was working for one and we had a collection of wallcharts covering almost an entire wall of the office. Being a bunch of designer nerds we couldn’t help critiquing them and the general consensus was that they were all pretty ugly, hard to fill in and hard to follow.

Now it’s 2012 and we are looking forward to the Euro 2012 championships and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to design a new kind of wallchart. One that is simple to fill in, easy to read and, most importantly, looks good on the wall. So good that you might even want to keep it up after the football has finished. And it certainly good enough that co-workers, housemates or other halves, who might not be quite as keen on the weeks of endless football thing as you are, won’t complain about it adorning your wall.

The neat concentric design leads you easily through the football tournament, from group stages right to the final in the middle. At each stage there is room for you to fill in the scores and team names as needed and each section is colour coded so you can see everything easily at a glance. The design has vintage soviet poster feel and the navy background is livened up with strong fun neons.
