Today we continue A Month In The Life, my new blog series where I ask some of my favourite designers, makers and creative types to keep a record of the last month and share an insight into what they’ve been up to! Today we follow surface pattern designer Emma Hawman from Emma Frances Designs through February.
Emma’s beautiful fun and floral patterns are full of joy and her beautiful hand drawn style reflects her artistic routes. She studied textile design at Leeds University and is a fellow graduate of the Art & Business Of Surface pattern. You can find out more about Emma and browse her design portfolio on her website, on her blog and connect with her on twitter.

Over to you Emma, tell us how February went for you:
“I had a pretty good month all in all, lots of new patterns and I put time aside to do some sketching which was really great! I won two giveaway competitions for the books Material World and A Field Guide to Fabric Design, both amazing books. I found some of my old sketchbooks from A level Art and an Art module I took at University, it was interesting to see how my work had evolved and sparked some ideas for future patterns too. I took a nice little trip home at the end of February, I hadn’t been home since Christmas so it was lovely to spend some time with my 8 year old brother (on the Playstation!) and I got to have a good catch up with my parents too.”
Thanks so much to Emma for joining in my new blog series and sharing your adventure through February! I loved seeing the work from University that you’ve rediscovered and congratulations on winning 2 giveaways for 2 amazing books!
