A Perfect Palette: Buttercup & Vintage Green
Hi, welcome to my new blog feature where I pick a group of colours, sometimes it’s a pair, sometimes it’s a four or five working together. I’ll go through the colours and find some gorgeous examples of them and hopefully provide some lovely colour inspiration for you.
Today’s palette is heavily influenced by spring tones. The pairing of this bright creamy yellow with the dusty green is one on my favourites, the colours play off each other really well without being too primary (that way lies brands like Harvester – best to steer clear) and teamed with lots of white they add a lightness and freshness. You can almost smell the blossom! Their dusty nature gives them a lovely vintagey feel without being too twee – I can imagine 70s tracksuits in these colours or retro camera packaging.
Let’s take a closer look at them, the yellow used here is #FAEB54 and is a pretty pure yellow – although not at full saturation – and there is a touch of blue which is helping it work with the green. The green is #95CDBA is pretty much a balance between yellow and blue which makes it a nice warm green. Get a bit of spring sunshine into your life!
